Debt Negotiation Advice

Is it possible to negotiate with a credit card company by offering to pay in full?

I am going to be taking out a loan from a bank in order to pay off all of my credit card debt. On a few of my cards, I am over 30 days late on payments. Citi Card is calling constantly, lol. On some cards, I am caught up, but may be behind by the time I receive the funds from the loan. Would it be possible for me to negotiate with the credit card companies to reverse all late/over limit fees by tempting them that I will pay in full if they comply? Would they potentially be willing to reverse more than the current late/over limit fees? Either way, I will pay them in full...but I want to save as much $ as possible in the process.

  1. i doubt it. they're gonna get their money either way.... if u wait longer then they tack on more and more late fees....
  2. Not a chance, no way, no how, won't happen. Sorry for the bad news but that's the way it operates. They do not bargain and your inducement will fall on dead ears.
  3. Most credit card companies will work with you if the card is in collections and most would write off fees to get paid in full, but your best bet, now that you hold the power, is to negotiate a lower rate of interest.
  4. Give it a shot. There is no harm in trying.
